I saw her once in a random moment as she left an office in
bev hills many years ago (post presidency)
“Nancy Reagan was born in New York City and when she was six her mother, Edith,
a stage actress, married Dr. Loyal Davis, a neurosurgeon. The doctor adopted
Nancy and she grew up in Chicago. She later attended Smith College in
Massachusetts, where she majored in theater.
Reagan was an actress when she met Ronald Reagan in the
early 1950s, then an actor and president of the Screen Actors Guild, according
to a White House bio…”

“Crew members said they were filming for a movie titled
“Why Him?” starring James Franco and Bryan Cranston.
They were filming “second unit” scenes and there were
no stars in town, the crew said….”

here are some pics from many years
later…after I returned to calvin college for another degree…and had a new dog,
a golden retriever, whom I named LOLA ! She was a great dog…and was with me for fourteen years,
beyond grand rapids to two summers in Jackson, Wyoming, and two years in
Coachella California (before it was known for the music festival), and
several more years in Los Angeles…great dog..hope to be re-united with her some
day in a better place
most of these are pics of our
family & me in west michigan prior to moving in 1984, but even after our
family moved to southern cal, I stayed in west michigan myself, as did my sister &
older brother. But ’84 marked the time I began commuting from southern Cal to
Grand Rapids & vice-versa depending on the event, holiday, et al. Not all of these pics are
of us IN Grand Rapids, but are of family members from Grand Rapids, most of
whom still live there. .

“out west” on a summer trip

here’s another backyard pic from griswold street…I was
a little happier this time
I was into being muscular at that age…stasrted working
out…flexing muscles, trying to be cool…liked basketball as you can see from the
posters…I see my 12 gauge shotgun behind me and a pair of boots..tried a little
deerhunting as well as goose for a while with some friends..

WELCOME ! SO i grew up in grand
rapids,…went to elementary, junior high, high school, & even college in
grand rapids (I also did a few other colleges outside michigan later or
concurrently), and I spend more
time in southern California now, but always keep an eye on what’s happening
“back home.” Perhaps I should say I grew up in West MIchigan, because we spent a lot of
time at Holland, and later on time near Muskegon and also the Silver Lake (New
Era) area, among other places. And even within Grand Rapids I lived in numerous
locations, some within the boundaries of the city, others outside. Nonetheless, my specific area of origin in Grand Rapids
is/was the Alger Heights area, not far from Alger Park, a little bit farther
from Seymour Christian school (which may have changed its name as of 2014).SO I will come back to this welcome page and add a
little more narration in the near future, but also will be posting links to
current news about Grand Rapids on a periodic basis, with my thoughts &
comments.
Here’s to Grand Rapids
&
West Michigan !
